Austrian and Westphalian Officers

Three 15mm command figures painted up recently, all Old Glory miniatures - one Westphalian and two Austrian Generals.

Austrian Dragoons

Another completed regiment of Austrian cavalry - in anticipation of refighting the Battle of Eckmuhl at some point in the next year.  These are the 1st 'Erzherzog Johann' Regiment of Dragoons.  The figures are Old Glory 15mm, painted in acrylics and gloss varnished.

Austrian Dragoons

This weekend I finished basing this regiment of 15mm Austrian dragoons - painted as the 2nd Chevaux-légers of Prinz Friedrich Xaver Hohenzollern-Hechinge.  Although some sources suggest that the facing colours were dark green I've gone with those who record that they were bright red (because I like the artistic contrast).

I'm not 100% certain of the figure manufacturers.  Don't think they are AB; I'm therefore plumping for Old Glory.  This is a symptom of having stacks of unpainted lead sitting in drawers for years...

In Napoleon's 1809 campaign the regiment fought in the Tyrol as part of the Austrian 8th Corps.

As per usual the figures were sprayed matt white and painted in acrylics with a gloss varnish

Recent Austrian 15mm Napoleonics

I thought I'd gather together my previous 'Show and Tell' blogs that cover my 15mm Napoleonic units from the Rivals Games site and put them together in this new blog as a counterpart to my 28mm Colonial efforts.  To that end, this first post is a selection of recent Austrian units.  The figures are mostly Essex for infantry, AB for cavalry, painted in acrylics (Miniature Paints and Vallejo mostly), based for Shako rules, and then gloss varnished for that 'toy soldier' look.

The full posts for these units (plus a Castiglione Shako battle report) can be seen here.
